Ingredients
- Carrots, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick: 1 pound
- Butter, unsalted: 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar, packed: 1/4 cup
- Water: 1/4 cup
- Honey: 1 tablespoon
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Black pepper: 1/8 teaspoon
Instructions
- Step 1: Place the sliced carrots in a medium saucepan and add the water, butter, brown sugar, honey, salt, and pepper.
- Step 2: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Step 3: Simmer, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes, or until the carrots are tender and the glaze has thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Step 4: Continue to cook until glaze coats the carrots. Adjust heat to prevent burning.
- Step 5: Remove from heat and serve immediately, spooning the glaze over the carrots.
Notes
- Store leftover glazed carrots in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Gently reheat glazed carrots in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of water if needed to loosen the glaze.
- Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley or thyme for an extra touch of elegance and vibrant color.
- For a richer flavor, let the glaze reduce further, watching closely to prevent burning, until it becomes almost candy-like.
