Delicious brownie refrigerator cake recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Boxed brownie mix (and ingredients called for on box)
  • Instant chocolate pudding mix (3.9 oz)
  • Milk (3 cups)
  • Cool Whip (8 oz container)
  • Chocolate syrup (1/4 cup)
  • Heath Bar candy (1.4 oz), crushed
  • Mini chocolate chips (1/4 cup)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the brownie mix according to the package directions. Let cool completely.
  2. Step 2: While the brownie is cooling, prepare the instant chocolate pudding according to package directions using 3 cups of milk. Whisk until smooth and set aside.
  3. Step 3: Cut the cooled brownie into 1-inch cubes.
  4. Step 4: In a large bowl or trifle dish, layer half of the brownie cubes, then half of the chocolate pudding, and then half of the Cool Whip. Drizzle with half of the chocolate syrup and sprinkle with half of the crushed Heath Bar and mini chocolate chips.
  5. Step 5: Repeat layers with the remaining brownie cubes, chocolate pudding, Cool Whip, chocolate syrup, crushed Heath Bar and mini chocolate chips.
  6. Step 6: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For best flavor, let the assembled cake chill overnight; it really lets the pudding soften the brownies.
  • A small scoop is the perfect serving size for this rich dessert, and a dollop of fresh whipped cream is always welcome.
  • If you want to gently warm a slice, microwave for 10-15 seconds, but watch closely to avoid melting the Cool Whip.
  • To prevent a soggy bottom layer, consider lightly toasting the brownie cubes before assembling the cake.
