Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Cook ziti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Step 2: While pasta is cooking, brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease. Stir in marinara sauce and oregano; simmer for 10 minutes.
- Step 3: In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix well.
- Step 4: In a large baking dish, combine cooked ziti, meat sauce, and ricotta cheese mixture. Toss gently to combine.
- Step 5: Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.
- Step 6: Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and the dish is heated through. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For easier slicing, let the baked ziti cool slightly before cutting and serving.
- Reheat individual portions in the microwave for a quick and satisfying lunch.
- Store leftover baked ziti in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat sauce while simmering.
