Delicious cheesy beef tortellini bake: a family favorite dinner recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (25 ounce) package cheese tortellini
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar of your favorite pasta sauce
  • 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chilies (Rotel), undrained
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook tortellini according to package directions. Drain well and set aside.
  2. Step 2: While tortellini cooks, brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  3. Step 3: Stir in pasta sauce, Rotel, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Step 4: In a large greased 9×13 inch baking dish, combine the cooked tortellini and the meat sauce. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Step 5: Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Step 6: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until heated through and cheese is melted and bubbly. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Leftovers store beautifully in the fridge for up to 3 days – simply reheat individual portions.
  • For perfectly reheated portions, microwave uncovered for 1-2 minutes, or until heated through, adding a splash of water to prevent dryness.
  • Serve this hearty bake alongside a simple side salad for a complete and balanced family meal.
  • To enhance the beefy flavor, consider browning the ground beef with a tablespoon of tomato paste before adding the onions – it adds a depth of richness!
