Delicious cheesy stuffed italian meatloaf – a comfort food classic with a gourmet twist recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Ground Beef (80/20 blend) – 2 lbs
  • Italian Sausage (removed from casings) – 1 lb
  • Italian Bread, cubed – 2 cups
  • Milk – 1/2 cup
  • Egg, large – 2
  • Parmesan Cheese, grated – 1/2 cup
  • Mozzarella Cheese, shredded – 1 cup
  • Marinara Sauce – 1 (24 oz) jar

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, soak the cubed Italian bread in milk until softened. Drain any excess milk.
  2. Step 2: In the same bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, eggs, and Parmesan cheese. Mix well with your hands until thoroughly combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Step 3: Divide the meat mixture in half. Spread one half of the meat mixture evenly in a greased loaf pan.
  4. Step 4: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the meat mixture in the loaf pan.
  5. Step 5: Carefully place the remaining meat mixture over the mozzarella cheese, pressing gently to seal the edges and form a loaf.
  6. Step 6: Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the top of the meatloaf. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For best flavor, store leftover meatloaf tightly wrapped in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat sliced meatloaf gently in the microwave or oven with a spoonful of marinara to prevent it from drying out.
  • Serve this cheesy masterpiece with a side of creamy polenta or roasted vegetables to complement the Italian flavors.
  • Chef's Tip: To prevent a dry meatloaf, avoid overmixing the meat mixture, as this develops gluten and makes it tough.
