Ingredients
- Cooked chicken breast, shredded: 3 cups
- Cooked ham, diced: 2 cups
- Swiss cheese, shredded: 2 cups
- Cream of chicken soup: 1 can (10.75 ounces)
- Milk: 1/2 cup
- Mayonnaise: 1/2 cup
- Dry bread crumbs: 1 cup
- Melted butter: 4 tablespoons
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, diced ham, 1 1/2 cups of the Swiss cheese, cream of chicken soup, milk, and mayonnaise. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Step 3: Pour the chicken mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Step 4: In a small bowl, combine the dry bread crumbs and melted butter. Mix well until the breadcrumbs are evenly coated.
- Step 5: Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of Swiss cheese evenly over the casserole, then top with the buttered breadcrumb mixture.
- Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is heated through, bubbly, and the topping is golden brown. Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Refrigerate leftover casserole in an airtight container for up to 3 days for best freshness.
- For optimal reheating, cover the casserole with foil and bake at 350°F until warmed through, preventing the breadcrumbs from burning.
- Serve this comforting casserole with a crisp green salad or steamed asparagus to balance the richness.
- For extra flavor, try using a smoked ham and Gruyere cheese blend in place of some of the Swiss.
