Delicious cinnamon sugar donut bread recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Bread Flour: 3 cups
  • Granulated Sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Instant Yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Milk: 1 cup, lukewarm
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Unsalted Butter: 6 tablespoons, melted
  • Cinnamon Sugar Coating: 1 cup granulated sugar mixed with 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the bread flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Step 2: In a separate bowl, whisk together the lukewarm milk, eggs, and melted butter. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Step 3: Knead the dough for 6-8 minutes on a lightly floured surface or in the stand mixer with a dough hook until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Step 4: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Step 5: Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or biscuit cutter. You can also cut into squares.
  6. Step 6: Heat about 2 inches of oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donut bread pieces in batches for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Step 7: While still warm, toss the donut bread pieces in the cinnamon sugar coating until well coated. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Store leftover donut bread in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain its soft texture.
  • For a warm, comforting treat, microwave individual slices for 10-15 seconds until heated through.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel for extra indulgence.
  • For the best rise, ensure your milk is lukewarm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
