Ingredients
Scale
- 4 Pork Chops (about 1 inch thick)
- 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
- 4 slices Bacon, chopped
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 2 cups Milk
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the pork chops by patting them dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt, pepper, and paprika. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, and remaining salt and pepper. Dip each pork chop into the milk, then dredge thoroughly in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.
- Step 2: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully place the pork chops in the hot skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Step 3: In the same skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet. Set the cooked bacon aside.
- Step 4: Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the butter to the skillet with the bacon grease. Once melted, whisk in 1/4 cup of flour until smooth. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, to create a roux.
- Step 5: Gradually whisk in the milk, a little at a time, ensuring each addition is fully incorporated before adding more. Continue whisking until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the cooked bacon.
- Step 6: Return the cooked pork chops to the skillet, spooning gravy over the top. Simmer for a few minutes to allow the pork chops to absorb some of the gravy's flavor. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover pork chops and gravy separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of milk to the gravy if it becomes too thick.
- Serve these juicy pork chops with creamy mashed potatoes and a side of your favorite green vegetable for a truly comforting country meal.
- For extra crispy pork chops, try a double-dredging technique: dip in milk, dredge in flour, dip in milk again, then dredge in flour one last time before frying.
