Ingredients
Scale
- 2 medium apples, such as Honeycrisp or Fuji
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon melted butter or coconut oil
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Step 1: Wash, core, and cut the apples into fry-like sticks, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
- Step 2: In a bowl, toss the apple fries with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and salt.
- Step 4: Add the melted butter (or coconut oil) to the apple fries and toss to coat. Then, sprinkle the flour mixture over the apples and toss gently until evenly coated.
- Step 5: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C). Arrange the apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd. You may need to cook in batches.
- Step 6: Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the apple fries are tender and golden brown. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Store any leftover fries in an airtight container in the fridge, but know they're best enjoyed fresh!
- For a quick reheat, air fry the leftover fries for 2-3 minutes at 350°F (175°C) to crisp them up again.
- Serve these apple fries with a dollop of vanilla Greek yogurt or a sprinkle of powdered sugar for an extra treat.
- Don't skip the lemon juice – it prevents browning and adds a subtle tang that complements the sweetness of the apples!
