  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium-sized firm apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter or coconut oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Wash and dry the apples. Core the apples and cut them into 1/4-inch thick slices, then cut the slices into fry shapes.
  2. Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and salt.
  3. Step 3: Add the apple fries to the bowl and toss to coat them evenly with the spice mixture. Make sure all the apple pieces are covered.
  4. Step 4: Drizzle the melted butter or coconut oil over the apple fries and toss again to coat.
  5. Step 5: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C). Arrange the apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd. You may need to cook them in batches.
  6. Step 6: Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the apple fries are tender and slightly crispy. Dust with powdered sugar (optional) and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Store leftover apple fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • For best results, reheat the fries in the air fryer for a couple of minutes to restore some crispness.
  • Serve these crispy apple fries with a dollop of vanilla yogurt or a scoop of ice cream for a delightful dessert.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of ginger or cardamom to the spice mixture before coating the apples.
