Delicious oven roasted garlic cabbage steaks recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head of green cabbage
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Step 2: Cut the cabbage into steaks. Remove any wilted outer leaves. Slice the cabbage through the core into approximately 1-inch thick steaks. You should get 4-6 steaks depending on the size of the cabbage.
  3. Step 3: In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, thyme, salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar.
  4. Step 4: Brush both sides of each cabbage steak with the garlic-herb mixture.
  5. Step 5: Arrange the cabbage steaks on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  6. Step 6: Roast for 20-25 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the edges are slightly browned. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese during the last 5 minutes of cooking. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Store leftover cabbage steaks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat roasted cabbage steaks in a skillet over medium heat with a touch of olive oil to maintain their crispness.
  • Serve these savory cabbage steaks as a delicious side dish alongside roasted chicken or grilled sausages.
  • For extra flavor, let the garlic-herb mixture sit for 15 minutes before brushing the cabbage, allowing the flavors to meld.
