Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium head of green cabbage
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2: Cut the cabbage into steaks. Remove any wilted outer leaves. Slice the cabbage through the core into approximately 1-inch thick steaks. You should get 4-6 steaks depending on the size of the cabbage.
- Step 3: In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, thyme, salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar.
- Step 4: Brush both sides of each cabbage steak with the garlic-herb mixture.
- Step 5: Arrange the cabbage steaks on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
- Step 6: Roast for 20-25 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the edges are slightly browned. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese during the last 5 minutes of cooking. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Store leftover cabbage steaks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat roasted cabbage steaks in a skillet over medium heat with a touch of olive oil to maintain their crispness.
- Serve these savory cabbage steaks as a delicious side dish alongside roasted chicken or grilled sausages.
- For extra flavor, let the garlic-herb mixture sit for 15 minutes before brushing the cabbage, allowing the flavors to meld.
