Delicious philly cheesesteak meatloaf: a cheesy, beefy twist on a comfort food classic recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Ground beef: 2 pounds
  • Yellow onion, finely chopped: 1 medium
  • Green bell pepper, finely chopped: 1 medium
  • Provolone cheese slices: 8 slices
  • Hoagie rolls: 2 rolls
  • Worcestershire sauce: 2 tablespoons
  • Breadcrumbs: 1 cup
  • Egg: 1 large

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, Worcestershire sauce, breadcrumbs, and egg. Mix well with your hands until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  2. Step 2: Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking pan.
  3. Step 3: Bake for 50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  4. Step 4: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and cover with provolone cheese slices. Return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Step 5: While meatloaf is baking, split the hoagie rolls and lightly toast.
  6. Step 6: Slice the meatloaf and serve on the toasted hoagie rolls. Optional: Add your favorite cheesesteak toppings, such as sautéed onions and peppers.

Notes

  • For easy meal prep, the cooked meatloaf can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat individual slices in a skillet with a little butter to keep the cheese melty and the edges crisp.
  • Serve with a side of au jus or cheese sauce for extra cheesesteak flavor.
  • Don't overmix the ground beef mixture – gentle handling ensures a tender, not tough, meatloaf.
