Delicious pioneer woman’s spaghetti sauce recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds ground beef
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Step 2: Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the pot with the ground beef. Cook until the onions are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Pour in the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Stir in the olive oil, dried oregano, and dried basil.
  4. Step 4: Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let simmer for at least 1 hour, or up to 3 hours for a richer flavor, stirring occasionally.
  5. Step 5: Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving. Serve over cooked spaghetti.

Notes

  • For easier cleanup later, consider using a pot that is dishwasher-safe.
  • Reheat leftover sauce gently over low heat, adding a splash of water if it's too thick.
  • This hearty sauce is delicious served over spaghetti squash for a lighter, healthier meal.
  • Don't skimp on the simmer time; the longer it cooks, the more the flavors meld and deepen!
