Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large jalapeños, diced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Step 2: Add the minced garlic and diced jalapeños to the skillet, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Step 3: Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.
- Step 4: Stir in the brown sugar, soy sauce, and ground cumin. Mix well and let it simmer for another 3-5 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Step 5: Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot over rice or in tacos, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired. Enjoy!
Notes
- For optimal freshness, store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- When reheating, gently warm the beef mixture on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of water or broth to prevent it from drying out.
- This dish pairs beautifully with fluffy rice or can be served in warm tortillas for delicious tacos; don't forget to top it with fresh cilantro for an extra burst of flavor!
- For a slightly smoky twist, consider adding some smoked paprika or chipotle powder along with the cumin to enhance the depth of flavor in your Sweet JalapenJalapeno beef.
