Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped sweet jalapenos (fresh or pickled)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Step 2: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Step 3: Stir in the chopped sweet jalapenos, brown sugar, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Step 4: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. If you prefer extra heat, add red pepper flakes at this stage.
- Step 5: Once done, remove from heat and serve warm. This sweet jalapeno beef can be served over rice, in tacos, or as a filling for sandwiches. Enjoy!
Notes
- For optimal freshness, store any leftover sweet jalapeno beef in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- When reheating, warm the beef mixture gently in a skillet over low heat or in short intervals in the microwave to prevent it from drying out.
- This dish pairs wonderfully with fluffy rice, but you can also serve it in soft tortillas for delicious tacos or as a savory filling in crusty sandwiches.
- For a richer flavor profile, consider marinating the ground beef with soy sauce and garlic for 30 minutes before cooking to enhance the overall taste of your sweet jalapeno beef.
