Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips (at least 70% cacao)
- 1 cup medjool dates, pitted and chopped
- 1/2 cup almonds, roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries or cherries
- 1/4 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
- Sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Step 1: Begin by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the chocolate from sticking during the cooling process.
- Step 2: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips in increments of 30 seconds, stirring in between until completely smooth and glossy.
- Step 3: Once melted, pour the chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and use a spatula to spread it evenly into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Step 4: Immediately sprinkle the chopped dates, almonds, dried cranberries or cherries, and shredded coconut over the melted chocolate, pressing down lightly to ensure they stick.
- Step 5: Finish by sprinkling a pinch of sea salt over the top. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate has fully hardened.
- Step 6: Once set, break the bark into pieces and enjoy as a delicious treat or snack! Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge.
Notes
- For optimal freshness, store your Viral Chocolate Date Bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
- If you prefer a softer texture, gently reheat the bark in the microwave for a few seconds; just be careful not to melt the chocolate completely again.
- Serve your bark alongside fresh fruit or a scoop of yogurt for a delightful contrast of flavors and textures that enhances the sweetness of the chocolate.
- For a fun twist, feel free to experiment with different nuts and dried fruits based on your preferences or what you have on hand; this recipe is versatile and forgiving!
